Why do people seek therapy?

People come to therapy for many reasons — sometimes in a time of crisis, sometimes out of curiosity, and often with a quiet sense that something needs to shift.  Therapy is a wellness tool that can be used to improve your emotional and overall health (much like exercise, meditation or eating well).

You might be navigating anxiety, grief, trauma, or life transitions. You may feel stuck in old patterns, disconnected from your body, or caught in cycles of conflict or self-criticism. Some people come to explore creative blocks — when inspiration or expression feels frozen, often tied to deeper emotional or relational patterns.

Therapy offers a space to slow down and listen — to what hurts, what wants to heal, and what’s possible. It’s not about being broken or needing to be fixed. It’s about meeting yourself with compassion, understanding your story, and creating new ways of relating to yourself and the world.

“Healing is not bringing in something that is missing, but seeing through what is not true.”
Mooji

What benefits can I expect from working with you?

It is often difficult to be objective about our own problems. Therapy can provide a fresh perspective on a difficult challenge or point you in the direction of solutions.

Therapy is a space for healing, growth, and reconnection. While everyone’s journey is unique, many people find that therapy helps them:

  • Feel more grounded and connected in their bodies

  • Develop greater emotional awareness and resilience

  • Heal from trauma, grief, or past experiences that still affect the present

  • Shift out of reactive patterns into more conscious, empowered choices

  • Improve communication and relationships — with others and with themselves

  • Soften inner criticism and cultivate self-compassion

  • Move through creative blocks or feelings of stuckness

  • Build a deeper sense of wholeness, purpose, and presence

For couples, the following benefits are offered:

  • Communicate with more clarity, empathy, and honesty

  • Understand and shift out of reactive cycles and old attachment patterns

  • Repair trust and reconnect after conflict, distance, or betrayal

  • Develop tools for co-regulation and emotional attunement

  • Deepen intimacy, respect, and shared understanding

  • Learn to meet differences with curiosity instead of defensiveness

  • Rebuild your relationship on a foundation of safety and conscious connection

“Our true nature is like the sky — vast, open, and untouched by passing weather.”

What can I expect from the therapy process?

During appointments you will talk about the primary concerns in your life and we will examine solutions. It is typical to meet once per week for 50 minutes. At times, you may be asked to take action outside of sessions, such as reading a relevant book or testing new skills.  For psychedelic-assisted therapy we may integrate challenging psychedelic journeys that you’ve experienced outside of our sessions or we may use ketamine in sessions to promote exploration during our sessions.  These sessions will often last 2-3 hours followed by integrations sessions that may occur during the same calendar week.

Therapy is a collaborative process — a space where you can slow down, explore your experience, and reconnect with parts of yourself that may feel lost, overwhelmed, or unseen. Our work unfolds at your pace, with respect for your history, your nervous system, and your natural rhythms of healing.

In our sessions, you can expect:

  • A safe and nonjudgmental space to explore what’s present — thoughts, emotions, body sensations, relational patterns, or questions about identity and meaning

  • Somatic and parts-based practices to help you understand not just what you feel, but how those feelings live in your body and where they may come from

  • Compassionate inquiry into how early attachment patterns and protective strategies may still be shaping your life

  • Practical tools drawn from Nonviolent Communication, Imago Therapy, and nervous system regulation to support integration and change — both in your inner world and your relationships

This work isn’t about fixing you — it’s about gently returning to what’s already whole, already wise, and already within.

What about payment?

My fee is based on a standard 50-minute session and I operate on a fee for service basis. Payment for services can be made with cash, check or credit card at the time of your appointment.
I do not bill your insurance directly, but I can provide an invoice if you wish to bill your insurance for out-of-network provider rates. If you plan to share the cost with your insurance, I advise that you contact your insurance prior to the first session and ask about what is covered for out-of-network services, how many sessions per calendar year you are eligible to have covered, your deductible and co-payment.  Many of my clients receive a substantial portion of the cost of sessions back from their insurance with ease.

It is important to me that people get the help they are looking for without cost being a deterrent. Therefore, I make space to offer some sliding scale slots for those who cannot afford the standard fee.  These are made available based on your situation and availability.

When you call for a consultation, I am more than happy to discuss any further questions you have regarding fees and insurance.
